MILAN - Generali Italia and its Cattolica Business Unit are launching a new insurance offer to meet the protection needs of over 4.5 million Italian businesses in the face of the impact of climate change.Today in Italy 94% of municipalities are at risk of landslides, floods and coastal erosion1 , but only a small percentage of properties are protected by specific insurance against damage caused by natural disasters. The gap, as noted by ANIA, concerns companies, especially those of very small dimensions2:only 3.4% of the locations referring to micro-businesses are covered by insurance for floods and only 8.4% for earthquakes.
ONLY 5.3% OF HOMES ARE INSURED AGAINST NATURAL DISASTERS
Not only that, again according to ANIA, families are also exposed to risk:only 5.3% of civilian homes are in fact insured against natural disasters. It is in this context that the Company led by Country Manager & CEO Giancarlo Fancel, he launched a new solution, dedicated to the protection from damage to buildings, plants and machinery, industrial and commercial equipment and land, directly caused by catastrophic events such as earthquakes, floods, landslides, inundations and overflows. A response that anticipates needs in light of the new rule introduced by the 2024 Budget Law, which introduces the obligation for companies to sign insurance contracts to cover catastrophic damages identified by the law itself.
