A Komboloi is the traditional Greek rosary, used for relieve stress and, more generally, for pass the time.Making your own komboloi for fun, or to relieve tension, will require the use of a few simple, inexpensive items.Follow the tutorial in detail!
  1. 1
Buy or make your own beads. Traditionally, the komboloi is made up of an odd number of beads, usually one added to a multiple of four, 5, 9, 13, etc.Additionally, you will need to add a "shield" bead, normally slightly larger in size than the others.Natural materials such as stone, amber and wood are considered more pleasant to handle, however you can use whatever you like.
  2. 2
Get or make a tassel. (Optional)
  3. 3
Shape the cordage. Normally, the length of the komboloi is two hands' width, so cut the cord to at least 4 hands' length, plus extra space to attach the shield and tassel.
  4. 4
    Thread the smaller beads.
  5. 5
Thread both ends of the string inside the shield bead.
  6. 6
Tie a knot to secure all the beads. A simple knot will be sufficient as long as its diameter is larger than that of the hole in the shield bead.If the rope chosen is very thin it will be necessary to tie multiple knots.
  7. 7
    Attach the tassel (if desired).
  8. 8
Fiddle with your new komboloi to relieve stress!
