The number of apps that promote new forms of mobility is regularly increasing. The latest arrival is OC Green Walk, developed in Italy by Osborne Clarke.

There is something new in the world of apps created to promote new ways to move around the city:is called OC Green Walk, was developed in Italy by Osborne Clarke and aims to make work travel more sustainable by rewarding the most virtuous professionals.

Pollution, the burden of business travel and commuting

The App is designed to report the CO2 emitted within the work trips and to reward the most virtuous professionals in adopting forms of sustainable transport. As he explains Valeria Veneziano, Counsel and ESG Champion for the Environmental area in Italy by Osborne Clarke, “this initiative aims to raise awareness and promote the adoption of virtuous behaviour.Participation is on a voluntary basis and professionals take part in an internal contest which rewards those who, on a monthly and half-yearly basis, obtain the highest CO2 savings by choosing sustainable means of transport".

The App is available at free title for all companies interested in involving their employees - with their own company ranking - in a prize game for sustainability. The law firm highlights Riccardo Roversi, Managing partner and ESG Champion for the Governance area in Italy, "reports and certifies greenhouse gas emissions on an annual basis and the numbers, in line with the characteristics of the sector, highlight the non-negligible role of commuting and business trips .The App adds to other initiatives, such as the fleet of company bicycles and the charging station for electric vehicles in the courtyard of Milan, which aim to encourage sustainable mobility".

Apps and sustainable mobility, the offer is constantly growing

There has been a lot of excitement in recent years in the world of apps dedicated to sustainable mobility, with an offer that has become increasingly broader and more varied over time. Jojob, for example, has been promoting the corporate carpooling, a solution to decongest traffic in cities:by registering and entering your usual home-work route, the App offers the user the most suitable travel companions. Moovit instead, it promotes correct planning of travel in urban centres, integrating public transport with sharing cars and all forms of micromobility, from bikes to electric scooters, into a single platform.

BlaBlaCar manages to match the travel needs of users who have the same destination;it is an App widely used beyond urban borders, for medium-long distance shared trips, which was then integrated with the service BlaBlaBus which allows you to book a seat on a bus made available to travellers. The idea of Woorti it is instead to give value to one's daily movements:analyzes users' movements in each mode and assigns a "grade" based on the type of vehicle used and the quality of the movement. In this way, everyone can be aware of the sustainability of their journeys, choosing more valid options from the point of view of time spent, health and environmental impacts.
