The eco-activists' protest returns to the Florentine museum after a year and a half

New incursion of the Last Generation activists at the Uffizi in Florence, who have returned to target Botticelli's "The Birth of Venus".TO July 2022 two eco-activists glued themselves to the glass of the Renaissance masterpiece. This time they attached images of the Campi Bisenzio floods with paper tape. The museum staff immediately made the tourists leave the room and turned off the lights, waiting for the arrival of the police who stopped the two activists. In a note, Ultima Generazione explained that Venus was covered «with images of the reality into which we are sinking.Increasingly frequent floods and landslides causing damage to homes, schools, hospitals and roads on the one hand, and unimaginable droughts on the other."

Before the raid, one of the two activists, Giordano, explained in a video:«I am a family man and social-health worker.Today I chose to violate my residency obligation and break the law again, risking prison to keep my promise to do everything I can to protect life. The Government continues to pretend that the fields were not burned in January, that water will not be a problem this summer, that the houses destroyed by floods are accidental events and not caused by human choices. And instead of dealing with these real problems, it makes absurd laws."
