VENICE – In Venice, the first flight ever made in Italy with a green hydrogen drone for the transport of goods.The vehicle transported biomedical material received by a water ambulance on the platform of the Venetian passenger terminal and to deliver it to an ambulance headed to the Mestre hospital.The objective is to make this transport system available in the area as early as 2025, once the administrative technical checks have been completed.
The video of the flight was shown today after the signing of the collaboration agreement between Enac, the Veneto Region and Save regarding Advanced Air Mobility (Aam, Advanced Air Mobility), during the inaugural day of the 'Space Meetings Veneto', the space 'fair' organized by the Veneto Region and the Air regional innovative network also in Venice.The H2C drone used in the video presentation, as underlined by the Region, it is capable of traveling up to 100 kilometers, transporting a total of five kilos of materials and consuming, for the fully loaded flight, only 340 grams of green hydrogen at a maximum speed of 55 kilometers per hour.
“Through the use of innovative and sustainable services, technologies and infrastructures– said the regional president Luca Zaia at the ceremony – we want to improve the accessibility and mobility of our cities and territory, the quality of the environment, services for citizens, with the aim, in the near future, of green 'air taxis', in particular, in case of emergencies healthcare, with notable advantages in terms of intermodality with the current transport network“."The travel times between different points of the regional and inter-regional territory will be reduced - continues the governor - with benefits in terms of safety, the environment and a reduction in road traffic and important positive effects in terms of development of the regional logistics network".
The video with the flight of a hydrogen-powered drone, "a national exclusive for the transport of medicines - underlines the regional president - is nothing more than an initial test which, in the context of the active protocols with Enac and Save, uses these first forms of mobility with the aim of creating a system of production and use of hydrogen drones that allow a public transport service to be carried out in a completely sustainable and authorized system".
