“On behalf of the Venetians, thank you for their commitment, all the technicians of the Veneto Alpine Rescue, the regional president Rodolfo Selenati and the police forces who effectively guard our mountains, in a truly excellent historical period also for tourist presences", concludes Zaia.
The Alpine Rescue of the Financial Police was in training in locality of Cadini di Misurina, in Forcella della Neve (at around 2,500 metres), when witnessed the collapse of a snow cornice which overwhelmed and buried two ski mountaineers in particular.Immediately, the military intervened in the search operations with the Artva, locating the signal in a very short time and thus proceeding to dig up one of the buried people with a shovel, a girl of about 14 years old, injured but conscious. Due to the conditions of hypothermia and following the various injuries sustained, Central 118 Suem was called, which sent the air ambulance to pick up the girl and take her to the Belluno hospital..In the meantime, the second ski mountaineer buried by the snow blanket managed to free himself thanks also to the help of the operators, his trip companions and the support material in his possession, being recovered by the Aiut Alpin Dolomites helicopter, which also intervened on site. The rescue operation was carried out difficult and highly risky due to the humid snowpack down to the depths and weakly consolidated, weighed down by the rain and wet snowfalls up to high altitude in recent days.
