GENOA – Few killings of wild boars in Liguria. The Region takes action to renew the fight against the spread of swine fever and establishes a series of extraordinary contributions for each animal that will be killed in the spring and summer seasons, variable depending on the proximity to the restriction zones.
HERE ARE ALL THE BONUSES
According to what is known to the Dire agency, in fact, a resolution approved by the council last Thursday provides 80 euros for the killing of each adult and sub-adult female specimen (red and striped specimens) of wild boar within restriction zones I and II or within 50 kilometers of their border. The contribution is halved at 40 euros for each adult male specimen, always within the same area.We then go down to 30 euros for the killing of each wild boar in the regional territory at a distance greater than 50 kilometers from the boundaries of restriction zone II.In the end, 30 euros will also be recognized for the discovery of each carcass following the so-called active research coordinated by the territorial operational groups.
The total financing is estimated at 200,000 euros and is part of the over 3.3 million already set aside and made available to Alisa for the reimbursement of expenses incurred by the territorial hunting areas to combat the pandemic.Resources will be recognized until the opening of the next hunting season, but, if they prove effective, they could also be renewed during the season itself. All sampling interventions must be conducted under the coordination and planning of the territorial operational groups and for the recognition of the contributions, the number of animals killed must be promptly reported by the territorial hunting areas.
REGION:'REDUCTIONS HAVE COLLAPSED SINCE FEBRUARY
The resolution bears the signature of the regional health councilor, Angelo Gratarola.“Considering that it is a question of combating a veterinary health emergency - he explains - this measure follows the strategies implemented for the containment of African swine fever in our territory, in full coordination with the Department of Agriculture and the breeding of my colleague Alessandro Piana”.
The Region assessed the need for the measure following the poor adherence of the hunting world to depopulation actions, with a clear reduction in wild boar killings starting from last February, as already occurred last year as spring approached. For this reason, it is explained, it was decided to follow the path traced by Lombardy and Piedmont to try to encourage bioregulatory hunters.
Furthermore, the national plan for the eradication of swine fever, sent by Italy to the European Union, provides for the recognition of contributions for each carcass of adult female wild boar and subadults killed within 50 kilometers from the border of restriction zone II for African swine fever, if adequately reported. With data updated last week from the Zooprophylactic Institute, in Liguria so far 754 cases of wild boar carcasses positive for African swine fever have been found, starting December 27, 2021.
