Donald Trump chose J.D.Vance as vice president candidate.Today it is his alter ego, but he was once his great detractor.
  • J.D.Vance is 39 years old and a Republican senator in the state of Ohio.
  • He once defined Donald Trump as responsible for the American cultural crisis, today he is his alter ego.
  • Vance is against the right to abortion, the sending of weapons to Ukraine and espouses Trump's conspiracy theories on the 2020 elections.

J.D.Vance he will be the vice president of the United States if Donald Trump wins the November presidential election. The former president made Vance's name official at the start of the meeting Republican convention, during which he obtained the investiture as the party's candidate in the next elections.

J.D.'s nameVance is surprising in his own way, for several reasons.Until a few years ago it was a deep detractor of Donald Trump, then he progressively changed his line, especially after becoming senator from Ohio in 2022.Today he is considered an alter ego of Trump and this breaks the tradition of choosing vice presidents different from the presidential candidate, to broaden the spectrum of consensus.

J.D.'s investitureVance

The US Republican Party convention began on Monday 15 July Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The event is held on the eve of each presidential election, lasts several days, involves the participation of numerous guests and also represents the official investiture of the party's presidential candidate this year Donald Trump.

Trump appeared in public for the first time sinceattack immediately on July 13th, when he was hit from a bullet to the ear. There showy blindfold has attracted the attention of the country, but what also caused a stir on the first day of the convention was the nomination of the person who will be its vice president should it win the November elections.Trump has chosen J.D.Vance, 39 years old and first millennial to run for the office of vice president of the United States, as well as the current senator from Ohio.

“After much deliberation and reflection, and considering the extraordinary talents of many others, I have decided that the best person to assume the office of Vice President of the United States is Senator J.D.Vance”, he underlined Trump.“As Vice President, you will continue to fight for our Constitution, stand with our troops, and do everything you can to help me make America great again”.

Who is J.D.Vance

J.D.Vance has 39 years old and is married to Usha Vance, with whom he has three children. He served in the Marines in Iraq and has a law degree from Yale University, just like his wife.

Vance worked for several years as a venture capitalist in Silicon Valley. But if his name is in the public domain it is mostly due to his activity as a writer. His book released in 2016 Hillbilly Elegy, in Italian American elegy, was an editorial sensation translated all over the world and defined by literary critics as one of the best texts on the United States of the twenty-first century.

It is an autobiographical book that recounts Vance's childhood Ohio and the Kentucky, a snapshot of the problems of white proletariat of deep America between drug addiction, unemployment, school dropouts and other economic-social critical issues. It was the time when Vance he was very critical towards Donald Trump, who became president of the United States that year. For Vance, Trump was among those responsible for the American cultural crisis, was called an idiot and even an American version of Adolf Hitler. Then something changed.

An alter ego of Donald Trump

Vance moved closer to Trump's positions and once he entered politics, with the victory of the senatorial seat in Ohio in 2022, he has effectively become an alter ego of the former president.

In these years he took sides against the right to voluntary termination of pregnancy, taking positions even more radical than Trump. He then took a stand against the military support for Ukraine in its war against Russia, arguing that the United States must deal with other geopolitical scenarios and that that is a matter for the Europeans.Vance also then took a stand against the results of the 2020 presidential election, those never accepted by Donald Trump and which led to his indictment for theassault on Congress. And he's a believer climate denier.

Vance has effectively turned into a version the same but younger of Donald Trump and it is this, combined with his loyalty towards the former president, who got him the nomination of vice president in the event of victory in the elections.Trump has never digested that his former vice president, Mike Pence, did not follow him in denouncing the 2020 electoral outcome and today wants to protect himself with people he feels closer to.

The paradox, however, is that presidential candidates usually choose as deputies those who have slightly different positions from their own, so as to make inroads into the undecided segments of the electorate.Trump, with his radical ways and positions, is not appreciated by the entire Republican electorate and a more moderate deputy could have been useful to convince the undecided. The fact that the former president chose his own alter ego, who is already rumored to be the Republican candidate for president in the next elections, is proof of a certain certainty of winning of Trump, ahead in the polls and galvanized by the difficulties his opponent is experiencing Joe Biden.
