The ecological transition concerns everyone, but everyone interprets and deals with it in their own way. There are those who try to reduce their impact in everyday choices, those who take to the streets to protest against those who pollute the most, those who run for office in politics, those who propose a different and more sustainable way of doing business. For each of them the same battle can take on different nuances and meanings, we also talked about it at the third Open event at the Ostello bello in Milan, Struggles that build the future, which took place last June 21st.«Climate justice is closely connected to environmental justice. And what we will have to do is try to promote, as administrators and as citizens, a just transition", explains Elena Grandi, councilor for the environment of the municipality of Milan.According to Miriam Falco, Ultima Generazione activist, climate justice means one thing above all:«Regain your rights, including the right to protest.Especially if a denialist government does nothing to lower emissions."
The Last Generation protests have become one of the most frequent battlegrounds, even within environmentalist movements.«I think it is right to listen to these protests. If there are, it means that there is a world that feels it has to express its rightful demands even with high-impact methods", claims Elena Grandi. However, the Milan councilor specifies:«Of course, respect for the common good is sacrosanct. We need to understand what the limit is."Miriam Falco, however, claims the strategy adopted by the environmentalist group of which she is a member:«As things stand right now, individual actions are no longer enough. The only thing left for us to do is civil disobedience."
