FERRARA - Inspections are taking place in Ferrara on the floors of nursery schools and nursery schools (0-6 years old) and primary schools in the Municipality:it is necessary to check for the presence of asbestos, given that It hadn't been checked since 2010.The presence has already been found in 10 buildings, in reality, however verifying "theabsence of airborne particles“, those dangerous to health.The Municipality assures this, explaining that the entire procedure has been shared with the Local Health Authority and there have already been inspections of all the properties involved, in order to start the remediation plan:concerns primarily the replacement of floors, dating back to the 70s and 80s.The total investment marks 700,000 euros.
Furthermore, as a precaution, the field of the investigation was also extended to all other school buildings under municipal jurisdiction, including inspections and other technical analyses.The floors of the 10 school buildings have so far been found, in some portions, to be made of vinyl material with the presence of asbestos fibers in a compact matrix. These are the Jovine Cbf Elefante Blu nursery schools, Gobetti;the Neruda and Pacinotti nurseries and nurseries;the Rampari, Girandole and Trenino nests;the Fondoreno primary school, the Ponte nursery and the Giardino nursery. “The current situation is under maximum control.Fortunately, no presence of asbestos fibers were found in the air, but in any case we have started a remediation plan to replace these floors, which have been present in the institutes for more than thirty years, on a scheduled basis", snaps Mayor Alan Fabbri, claiming that he did not want to hide "his head in the sand".

The safety documents have been updated, in agreement with the Local Health Authority, and "it is now possible, for all parents who request it, to receive a specific information booklet, prepared for each individual structure, which documents the situations in greater detail of the flooring to be replaced”, adds councilor Dorota Kusiak.In the Municipality they point out that “the implementation of the intervention plan will develop over the next three years” during the summer breaks, so that there are no inconveniences and service interruptions.In the meantime, the control procedures "and constant environmental monitoring" have been strengthened.
