Protest against circuses and animal abuse

ROME - Blitz by the animal rights group 'Animal Rebellion' this morning in Piazza del Popolo, in Rome.Two young people belonging to the association they threw yellow and red washable paint on the lions of the fountain in Piazza del Popolo and on the marble base of the obelisk to protest against circuses and animal abuse.

Then they waited for the arrival of the police sitting on the steps of the monument with a banner with the writing “No more animals in circuses”.The two boys were then taken away by the Carabinieri.

THE PIAZZA DEL POPOLO FOUNTAIN CLEANING INTERVENTION

Paint removal began in the afternoon.An urban decoration company called by the Municipality of Rome under the coordination of the State Superintendency and the Capitoline Superintendency intervened. The paint, from what was observed in the first minutes of cleaning, seems to have left no trace on the monument in the places where it had already been removed.
