BRUSSELS – Road blocks with tractors and then fires, protest chants, explosions of firecrackers and even a statue torn down today in Place de Luxembourg, in Brussels, in front of the European Parliament.To demonstrate against the common agricultural policy and the so-called Green Deal, farmers who came from various EU countries.Tractors were used by demonstrators to carry out road blocks in several parts of the city, in particular in the streets adjacent to the European Parliament.

In Place de Luxembourg, where there was a deployment of police officers protecting the assembly, eggs and bottles were also thrown. A nineteenth-century statue depicting John Cockerill, English pioneer of the steel industry, founder of a company in Belgium that bore his name, has been demolished.Among the slogans chanted “Without farmers there is no agriculture”. On a sign the writing:“People of Europe, say no to despotism”.On another, of Coldiretti, “This is not the Europe we want.”
