Wolf walking in the former Bolzaneto hospital:asleep and taken back to the mountains

The animal was fitted with a radio collar to monitor its movements and understand what attracted it to the city

GENOA – Wolf walking in the gardens of the former Gallino hospital in Bolzaneto, this morning in Genoa.After reports of the sighting, the environmental wildlife surveillance team intervened and put the animal to sleep and then took it to the hills and released it.“I thank the staff of the environmental fauna surveillance unit who intervened promptly this morning, in the former Pastorino hospital in Bolzaneto, where this lparticularly 'confident' upo– states the vice-president of the Liguria Region, Alessandro Piana – the timely intervention made it possible to manage the situation without damage and without particular problems”.

According to the councilor, it is a young male, weighing around 30 kilos, although on Facebook, the naturalistic observer, Ugo De Cresi, claims to have had different information and that, most likely, it would be a female.In any case, Piana says, the wolf "was put to sleep, fitted with a radio collar and transported to the hills to be released into its natural habitat.He appeared in good health, we will see the results of the tests later:phenotypically it is not a hybrid."The vice president explains that “with the radio collar we will be able to monitor his movements and have a series of useful information for monitoring, such as the sources of attraction that we can thus avoid to continue implementing preventive policies".
