The Swedish activist points out that many of those in power "still live in denial about the climate crisis"

An unprecedented betrayal, that of world leaders, who are unable or unwilling to make truly impactful decisions in the fight against climate change. The complaint comes from the activist best known globally for her environmental battle, Greta Thunberg, following the publication of the report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change ofUN.The 20-year-old Swede, creator of Fridays For Future, released a declaration to the news agency Afp to shine a spotlight on the inaction of the leaders of the main countries responsible for the greenhouse gas emissions.«The fact that those in power still live in denial and are actively going in the wrong direction will ultimately be seen and remembered as an unprecedented betrayal», denounced the activist, «it is only a matter of time, now it becomes every hardest day to deny the climate crises."The IPCC report underlines how imminent action by governments is necessary, already in this decade, to halve - compared to 2010 - greenhouse gas emissions and keep the increase in temperature within 1.5 degrees, the target set at Paris.
