BOLOGNA - All that's missing is the famous jingle before kick-off, but everything else refers to the great midweek football evenings, “sponsor” included.Born there Solar Champions League, a championship where goals are scored collective self-consumption.
AN IDEA THAT BORN AT THE UNIVERSITY OF BOLOGNA
The idea came to Center for solar communities, spin-off of the University of Bologna founded in 2015 to accompany the birth of communities based on renewables. What better means than football to involve people, especially the young generations, in a complex challenge such as the ecological transition? There Solar Champions League sees the various Italian energy communities as protagonists (the ranking currently has 26 in line, with in the lead Medicine followed by Pesaro And Forlì) And it is played every week, throughout the year, for a total of 52 challenges that start on Monday and end on Sunday. The results of the challenges, as explained on the center's website, communitysolare.eu, give the right to different scores based on the position reached in the weekly ranking. The sum of the scores of the individual weeks determines the general ranking, from which, at the end of the annual period, emerges the winning community of the Solar Champions League.
FOOTBALL TO CHANGE HABITS AND THE ENERGY MARKET
“Energy communities can also be very fun things”, underlines the professor of the Alma mater Leonardo Setti, president of the Centre.“We invented the Solar Champions League, which is the first championship in the world among solar communities of our national platform. They are teams of citizens who with their photovoltaic systems, their electric cars and their heat pumps challenge each other with collective self-consumption, between those who produce and those who consume“.In fact, the winner is not the one who produces the most energy, but the one who has the best ability to self-consume the energy produced by others.“We - adds Setti - we must learn to consume the energy we produce, to exchange and give value to the energy we exchange with each other. What we already do as physical law while administrative law prevents us from generating this value. We must ensure that by learning through play to collectively self-consume through the Solar Champions League we become aware and ask to change the electricity market."
“DEBUT” AT ECOMONDO, THE SCUDETTO IN FEBRUARY
There official presentation from the first edition, complete with commemorative t-shirts, is scheduled for November 7th at Ecomondo, While the championship will be awarded next February to Key Energy, always a Rimini, together with the recognitions for the 'sponsors', i.e. the construction companies of the respective solar communities.
