ROME – In Rome, the Capitoline Council has approved in recent days the 2023-24 calendar of 'Ecological Sundays', in which both cars and motorbikes will stop:they will be November 19th and December 3rd 2023 and then January 14th, February 25th and March 24th 2024. On this occasion, the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Waste Cycle, in collaboration with Zètema, wanted to promote a program of animation, entertainment and awareness-raising activities on environmental issues and on actions aimed at improving the quality of air.
Through a call published by Zètema, projects for cultural animation activities, live shows and workshops on environmental themes will be selected, which will be held on the first two of the five ecological Sundays, 19 November and 3 December 2023.
In particular, on November 19th, ecological Sunday is intended to be an opportunity to create a great event in the iconic setting of Via dei Fori Imperiali, relaunching a traditional bond that links the heart of the historic city to ecological Sundays.Through the tender, a program of events will be built that will take place at four different locations from 10am to 7pm which includes, for example, musical shows, street band performances and activities that recall issues related to air quality.
The Sunday of December 3rd includes a program of events organized with the involvement of all 15 municipalities of Rome with locations identified as follows:
Town Hall I:Mastai Square;
Town Hall II:Piazza Mancini;
Municipality III:Archaeological Square of Via Ferruccio Amendola;
Municipality IV:Tozzetti Park, Via Galati;
Municipality V:Roberto Malatesta Square;
Municipality VI:Peace Park, Via Domenico Parasacchi;
Municipality VII:Piazza San Giovanni Bosco;
Municipality VIII:Piazza Caduti della Montagnola;
Municipality IX:Largo Montanari;
MunicipalityPiazza San Pier Damiani;
Municipality XI:Piazza Caterina Cicetti;
Municipality XII:Scotti Square;
Municipality XIII:Piazza Santa Maria delle Fornaci;
Town Hall XIV:Balduina Square;
Town Hall XV:Dazio Square.
In these places, in all the municipalities, from 10am to 7pm, events will be held such as, for example, street theater shows, artistic entertainment, musical and marching band performances, clown and street artist shows, workshops with environmental.
“After the great success of 'Blue Saturday', a day dedicated to urban walking which took place last 14 October, we wanted to continue these awareness-raising actions on environmental issues and, in particular, on improving air quality by removing the opportunity of Sundays ecological to make them moments of participation and involvement of the city through shows, musical events and workshops for adults and children.We therefore hope for great participation in the Zètema call for proposals with quality project proposals that will make the Sundays of November 19th and December 3rd two days of celebration and reflection on the importance that our behavior has in improving the quality of the air we breathe. on which our health and the quality of life in the city depends", declared Sabrina Alfonsi, councilor for Agriculture, Environment and Waste Cycle of the capital Rome.
