Annular solar eclipse:on October 14th the ring of fire show

The phenomenon will not be visible from Italy, but can be observed in streaming

ROME – A ring of fire is preparing to 'set the sky on fire':The October 14th aAnnular solar eclipse. The phenomenon will affect the USA, Central America, Colombia and Brazil, but, unfortunately, it will not be visible from Italy.However, it will be possible to be followed on the web thanks to free streaming made available by Virtual Telescope starting from 6.00 pm.

THE ANNULAR SUN ECLIPSE OF OCTOBER 14

An annular solar eclipse is a partial eclipse which occurs when lto Luna it is directly aligned between the Earth and the Sun but is at its peak, that is, at the maximum distance from our planet.Normally, the Moon and Sun appear the same size in the sky.However, when our satellite is at apogee, appears slightly smaller than usual. During an annular eclipse, due to its 'reduced' apparent size compared to the Sun, the Moon is unable to completely block the view from Earth as happens in total eclipses, leaving it uncovered only the outer edge. This bright ring, which gives its name to the annular eclipse, is colloquially referred to as 'ring of fire'.
