ROME – The event will take place in Rome from 17 to 19 OctoberYouth4Climate:Sparking Solutions 2023':are expected in the capital 130 young people under 30 from 63 countries, That they will engage with national and international institutions on climate action:from Tanzania to Pakistan, from China to the Fiji Islands, from Mexico to Ukraine.And the Colosseum will also light up on the evening of October 18th with the logo of the initiative, which is celebrated a few weeks after the start of COP28 in Dubai.

“Italy – explains the Minister of the Environment and Energy Security Gilberto Pichetto Fratin– is investing heavily in engaging young people in climate action.Our Youth4Climate - he adds - will be a great opportunity to discuss and listen with an eye towards COP28 in the United Arab Emirates, where we will bring the healthy desire of young people to have an impact on the crucial challenge of climate change:not just protest, but commitment and proposal".

The initiative, managed by the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security with the Secretariat entrusted to the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Italy, was presented today by Minister Pichetto in a press conference at the monastery of San Bonaventura, which was also attended by the coordinator of the UNDP Center for Climate and Energy in Rome Agostino Inguscio.Now in its third edition and after the great interest aroused in 2022, Youth4Climate has now become an initiative of global appeal, led by the collaboration between Italy and UNDP and aimed at mobilizing an active network of young people on the topic of "climate change":in particular, the event aims to select and reward the best projects presented by young people from all over the world to tackle the climate crisis, promoting a concrete dialogue between young people and international actors.

“As the United Nations Development Program - explains the rmanager of the UNDP Center in Rome Agostino Inguscio– we underline the importance of the strategic support that Italy is giving to young people in becoming protagonists in the fight against climate change.The Youth4Climate initiative - he adds - is an example to follow for the inclusion of new generations in a new green economy, fundamental to achieving the objectives of the Paris Agreement".

The event is divided into three days of work:the first two in Palazzo Rospigliosi, the last in the Casina di Macchia Madama.On the first day, the projects selected from the 1143 submitted following the call launched last September in New York and divided into four sections will be presented:urban sustainability, energy, food and agriculture, education.Among the participants on the first day, in addition to the young speakers and moderators, the Italian Special Envoy for Climate Change Francesco Corvaro.
