ROME - The earth continues to shake in the Campi Flegrei where last night it was recorded a new strong earthquake of magnitude 4.0 at three km depth, also felt in Naples where frightened people poured into the streets.Always this night the earth also shook in Calabria.

It is well known that Italy is largely made up of seismic territory, yet many people don't know what to do when they are surprised by an earthquake. So here it is the Civil Protection guidelines which indicate the best actions to take and what to avoid before, during and after the shock.

WHAT TO DO BEFORE THE EARTHQUAKE

WHAT TO DO DURING THE EARTHQUAKE

WHAT TO DO AFTER THE EARTHQUAKE

It can also be useful prepare a bag with first aid material inside, a flashlight and a power bank to keep close to you even at night, because in the event of a strong shock, the electricity line could blow and therefore you could be left for many hours without the possibility of recharging your mobile phone and getting in touch with other people.Always in the event of a strong earthquake and when damage to the home is visible, it would be advisable to avoid returning to retrieve objects or for any other reason.

If, however, we live in an area where a medium intensity seismic swarm is underway, as is happening in the Campi Flegrei, and we fear being surprised by an earthquake in the night, it may prove useful sleep on top of the covers dressed and wearing comfortable shoes, so as to be ready to escape. In any case if several tremors occur within a short space of time, it would be more prudent to spend the night outside the house, especially if the intensity of the tremors tends to increase.A valid option is always the car, where you can take refuge by parking far from buildings.
