BOLOGNA – Snow in South Africa:an exceptional snowstorm hit South Africa between Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd September, causing major traffic disruptions and in particular causing the blockage of the N3 motorway which is the most important in the country.There N3 Route, connecting Johannesburg and Durban, would have remained completely paralyzed, with the formation of queues of up to 30 kilometres.Local newspapers reported a 39-year-old woman who died of hypothermia after being stuck in traffic for several hours.
It's about an anomalous and unexpected weather event:September is normally a month of transition towards warm temperatures and marks the beginning of spring for South Africa.The snowfall on September 21st will therefore be remembered as an extraordinary event.Meteorologists have spoken of an "extreme case" and do not rule out new snowfall:Weather warnings have been issued for several parts of the country.
