ROME - A North Atlantic depression will lead to a rapid change in weather conditions over our country starting from the north-western areas and then extending to the entire territory by Monday. Scattered to widespread precipitation, frequent thunderstorms, even intense and locally persistent, are expected.Temperatures also dropped significantly:they will collapse in the next 12-36 hours by at least 10 degrees throughout Italy.
Based on the available forecasts, the Department of Civil Protection has issued a warning of adverse weather conditions. The warning forecasts from today's afternoon, Saturday 17 August, scattered to widespread rainfall, including showers or thunderstorms, over Valle d'Aosta, Piedmont, Liguria, Sardinia and extending from Sunday 18 August over Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna. Romagna, Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Tuscany, Marche, Umbria, Lazio, Abruzzo, Molise, Campania, Basilicata, Calabria and Sicily, especially on the Tyrrhenian slopes.The phenomena will be accompanied by heavy showers, frequent electrical activity, local hailstorms and strong gusts of wind.
On the basis of the predicted and ongoing phenomena, an orange alert has been assessed for tomorrow, Sunday 18 August, in Liguria and part of Emilia-Romagna and a yellow alert has been assessed in Piedmont, Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Tuscany, Umbria , Marche, Lazio, Campania, Molise, Abruzzo and parts of Sicily, Calabria, Basilicata, Lombardy and Emilia-Romagna.
