Bar on the Islet of Ogliastra, the Prosecutor turns on the lights:criminal proceedings initiated

The islet is protected with specific landscape restrictions, but since last spring there has been a lounge bar

CAGLIARI – Lights of the Lanusei Prosecutor's Office on the tourist structure built last spring on the Isolotto d'Ogliastra, part of the small archipelago of pink granite and red porphyry close to the central-eastern coast of Sardinia.

The Court, according to the president of the Legal Intervention Group, Stefano Deliperi, has in fact criminal proceedings opened after the various reports brought forward by the ecological association itself.

The Islet of Ogliastra, "with traces of Punic and Arab presence, was a refuge for sailors and fishermen and is home to a rich marine avifauna - recalls Deliperi -. It is protected with specific landscape restrictions, partially falls within state maritime property and is safeguarded with integral conservation restrictions. But, starting from the spring of this year, it found itself hosting, against its will, a 'lounge bar'“.In fact "a structure with a tourist purpose built in rather opaque ways".

How is it possible, Deliperi asks, “that on a small island, little more than a rock, protected with integral conservation restrictions, an intervention has been carried out which objectively tampers with a protected environment, and not a 'landfill', how did the creators of the tourism initiative define it before their remediation intervention?”.

The association had therefore forwarded a series of requests for clarification to the supervisory authorities, and the responses arrived, starting from the Region.Which, Deliperi reports, on 4 August had ordered the removal within 15 days of the unauthorized works, found during an inspection by the Coast Guard:“The results of the investigations are clear - explains Deliperi - works that were not authorized from a landscape perspective and were not even granted state concession were identified. They must therefore be sanctioned and removed without further delay."
