To use radiators at home this year we will have to wait. Not only for the plan of the Ministry of Ecological Transition launched in September for save energy, but also for the decisions of several mayors, who through local ordinances have further delayed the switch-on date (given the higher temperatures than the seasonal average).
With the new rules launched by the former minister Roberto Cingolani and confirmed by the current Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, heating can be turned on in homes for 15 days less:7 in and 8 out. Before October 22nd, therefore, even in several cold areas of Italy, radiators could not be used.
Not only that:in addition to a maximum temperature of 19 degrees in the home (with two degrees more or less tolerance), you can keep the system turned on for one hour less per day.The Ministry's Regulation, implemented by a specific decree by Cingolani of 7 October, serves to "immediately realize useful savings at a European level to prepare for possible interruptions of gas supplies from Russia”.
The objective is ambitious:save up to 5.3 billion cubic meters of gas, so as not to be unprepared for any new shocks on methane supplies from Russia and the consequent energy saving obligations from the EU (for now we are only at the Voluntary Plan).
When the heating is turned on in the various Italian regions
The impact of the measures, as mentioned, is not the same throughout the country, but changes based on the six climate zones into which the Italian territory has been divided. The division was established by an old decree of the President of the Republic in 1993, which established zones from A to F based on the average climate recorded, not considering latitude.
To insert a territory into a single zone, a degree-day calculation coefficient is used, measuring the average temperature difference between external and internal environments.According to the Cingolani plan, the days on which the radiators will be turned on, in the various areas of the country, will be as follows:Zone A (5 hours daily from 8 December to 7 March), Zone B (7 hours daily from 8 December to 23 March), Zone C (9 hours daily from 22 November to 23 March), Zone D (11 hours daily from 8 November to 7 April), Zone E (13 hours daily from 22 October to 7 April), Zone F (no limitations).Let's see each area which regions and cities it corresponds to.
