Lots of events coming up in September for those who love cycling adventures. From the legendary Eroica to the Sella Ronda bike day, here is our selection.

There is no better month than September to spend a weekend cycling in company, on the occasion of events now considered by the people of bicycle like a tradition, moments awaited all year round and placed on the calendar alongside the recommended holidays.People come from far away (even from the other side of the ocean!) to take part in theHeroic, the legendary historic cycling route of Gaiole in Chianti, or to immerse yourself in the beauty of the Dolomites with the Sella Ronda bike day. While in Umbria we are celebrating ten years of SpoletoNorcia by mountain bike, in Veneto we cycle for the third edition of Mia women laughs, an initiative dedicated exclusively to women. All you have to do is open your diary and cross-reference it with that of your bicycle to treat yourself to a new adventure around Italy!

Discover Umbria by mountain bike with SpoletoNorcia

The month's dance opens SpoletoNorcia by mountain bike which turns ten years old.It is one of the main two-wheel sporting events in central Italy, with a competitive race and four routes of varying difficulty to be pedaled also with e-mtbs, tandems and fat bikes. We start from the route of Old Spoleto-Norcia railway which crosses the Valnerina, one of the most lush areas of Umbria, among spectacular mountains crossed by the course of the Nera river, enchanting villages, stone viaducts and helical tunnels.
From September 1st to September 3rd, a weekend of celebration for everyone, even children, with talks, games, shows, aperitifs and Umbrian flavours.

Among the routes, we find the "sn cup" competitive race on a 55 kilometer circular circuit with a difference in altitude of 1,600 meters and an alternation of challenging descents and slopes. Also definitely reserved for well-trained calves is the "hard circuit" of 85 kilometers and 2,200 meters of altitude difference, which allows you to cycle along the entire route of the Old Railway which is now accessible. Also interesting is the "classic route", 45 kilometers and 1,200 meters in altitude, between Spoleto, Sant'Anatolia di Narco and Scheggino, home of the truffle.Suitable for everyone is the "family route" of just ten kilometers and 300 meters of altitude difference.Registrations are open until the immediate eve of the event, with fees of up to 70 euros. The proceeds of the "family path" will be donated to the "Il Siglio di Teo" association.

We also remember that SpoletoNorcia in mtb does not end with the September dates but is a project that embraces the entire year with permanent cycle tourism routes and services for those traveling by bike, brought together under the Sn365 brand (SpoletoNorcia 365 days).

The Eroica, the most famous historic cycle racer in the world

We end on a high note with what is considered "cyclists' Christmas", that is the Eroica.Born in 1997 in Gaiole in Chianti, a small village in the province of Siena, it is a cycling event that recalls the cycling of the past, the epic, heroic one.

The white roads of Tuscany, the beauty of the landscapes, the good wine and the ribollita are not enough to outline the magic of the Eroica, which takes place on the first Sunday in October and the previous Saturday. It is open to everyone but you must follow the rules:you strictly participate with vintage bikes and vintage clothing.
