The action in Kårstø:eight kayaks and three motor boats prevent the oil tankers from operating

Greta Thunberg and Extinction Rebellion activists occupied the Kårstø oil terminal in Norway.Eight kayaks and three motor boats are now rowing into the security zone to prevent the normal operation of the tankers.Entrances to Kårstø by land are blocked by people of all ages, including Equinor employee Daniel Sollien, activists say in a press release. The Kårstø processing plant is the largest of its kind in Europe and receives gas from Åsgard and other fields in the Norwegian Sea.According to activists, it is the first time that Greta Thunberg has campaigned against Norwegian oil and gas.“We cannot stand by and watch as the fossil fuel industry takes people's lives and destabilizes our vital systems. We are tired of empty words and greenwashing:it is clear that the behavior of oil companies brings death and suffering,” Thunberg said.
