- The Cave Canem foundation launches a campaign against animal abuse and related criminal phenomena.
- Justice for the weakest is an imperative for the various bodies involved in the project.
- Police forces, magistrates, juvenile criminal justice bodies among the participants.
Justice must also concern the weakest in our social system. And who is currently weaker than animals, dogs And cats in the head, subjected every day to torture, mistreatment, abuse by man?The problem was taken care of Cave Canem Onlus Foundation which brought the campaign to life I deserve justice to collaborate with police forces, the judiciary they juvenile criminal justice bodies in order to prevent and combat animal abuse and related criminal phenomena.
A campaign to ensure justice for animals
Every year, I'm almost 10 thousand the proceedings established for crimes against animal victims of mistreatment, incompatible detention or exploited in criminal activities.Too often the perpetrators of such vile and heinous acts are people minors or very young, involved in contexts of organised crime or petty crime.
The campaign launched by the Cave Canem Onlus Foundation has specific aims. The first is that of ensure the application of the laws for animals throughout the national territory. The second – no less important – is that of speed up justice times with respect to the crimes against them, ensuring that the animals, where possible, are always freed from judicial seizures in such a way as to guarantee them a peaceful and well-being family life. Finally, the foundation's campaign aims to obtain promptly fair compensation to be allocated to the health and maintenance of the specimens under seizure.
In fact, the agreement also provides for the establishment, by the non-profit organization, of a specific fund whose resources will be used to collaborate with the police and the judiciary in the management of judicial seizures of mistreated animals.Cave canem will, therefore, also be fundamental for juvenile criminal justice bodies involved in preventing and combating the phenomenon of juvenile deviance.
The respect for rights must not remain a utopia
“The Forestry, Environmental and Agri-Food Unit command of the Carabinieri is sensitive to the issues in question and for this reason I am very happy to have signed the protocol, thanks to which to give greater scope to what are now consolidated relationships with the Cave foundation canem onlus. All this confirms the maximum commitment to preventing and combating these crimes", explained the commander Antonio Pietro Marzo, general of the army corps.
“Since the establishment of our foundation, three years ago now, we have collaborated with the Carabinieri on several occasions, thus helping approximately 150 dogs under judicial seizure because they are victims of crime, contributing to the formation of approximately 600 workers and facilitating the life and rehabilitation path of thirty young offenders,” he echoes Mirko Zuccari, dog trainer manager of the foundation.
Despite having noted the possibility of mistreatment, very often the judiciary and the police forces, in the absence of funds for placement in protected facilities, are forced to leave the animals in the hands of potential abusers. In other cases, judicial seizure is ordered, but the victims remain at the mercy of the justice system. What does all this mean?An indefinite time for these poor beasts tormented by man, often forced into kennels and catteries for months or even years, and deprived of the possibility of enjoying the warmth and affection that a family can offer.A sad fate that we try to counteract with this project, guaranteeing a better life and a secure livelihood to animals.
