ROME – The climate crisis is global but the most direct consequences are local, affecting territories forced to experience them on the front line. However, both the problem and the solution see the territory as the protagonist, with climate change aggravated by the greenhouse emissions of cities and which in turn puts them in crisis.
Therefore, the solutions must necessarily start from the cities, from the territories, with the involvement of territorial governance levels: Municipalities, Provinces, Regions.Local authorities are the last link in the regulatory production chain that starts from the European Union and reaches the territory, affecting citizens. Therefore, solutions must also be tailored to the territory, designed on its characteristics, such as those for adapting to climate change, without impacting the local economic structure, protecting businesses and citizens. An action that must necessarily also involve the private sector, which will be protected from natural disasters and will also see business opportunities, often well suited to the size of SMEs.
This will be discussed in Rome on 15 and 16 October, the occasion of the second edition of the 'RENAEL Green Horizon', a meeting on the challenges of the energy transition and climate change organized by the National Network of Local Energy Agencies, RENAEL precisely.
The appointment is presented today to the Chamber in a press conference in which they took part Sergio Costa, M5S deputy, vice president of the Chamber of Deputies and former Minister of the Environment and Tobia Zevi, Councilor of Rome Capital for Heritage and Housing Policies. With them Piergabriele Andreoli, President of RENAEL, and Benedetta Brighenti, General Director of RENAEL, vice-president of FEDARENE Climate Pact Ambassador of the European Commission. The event will take place at Palazzo Wedekind, in Rome, on 15 and 16 October. This is the second edition of RENAEL.
