ROME - In the next few hours a disturbed system of Atlantic origin will reach our country, causing an intense worsening with abundant and persistent rainfall over most of the central-northern regions, accompanied by a general strengthening of winds from the southern quadrants.
Based on available forecasts, the Department of Civil Protection in agreement with the regions involved - who are responsible for activating the civil protection systems in the territories concerned - issued a warning of adverse weather conditions.The weather phenomena, impacting on the different areas of the country, could determine hydrogeological and hydraulic criticalities which are reported, in a national summary, in the national criticality and alert bulletin which can be consulted on the Department website (www.protezionecivile.gov.it).
The warning predicts widespread and persistent rainfall, including showers or thunderstorms, over Liguria and upper Tuscany from today evening, Monday 7 October, extending from the early hours of tomorrow, Tuesday 8 October, to eastern Piedmont, Lombardy , Emilia-Romagna and subsequently to the Autonomous Provinces of Trento and Bolzano, Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia and the rest of Tuscany.Furthermore, from the late morning/early afternoon of tomorrow, Tuesday 8 October, theextension of widespread rainfall, including downpours or thunderstorms, in Umbria, Lazio and subsequently, especially in the western sectors, in Abruzzo and Molise.The phenomena will be accompanied by heavy showers, frequent electrical activity, local hailstorms and strong gusts of wind.From the early morning of tomorrow, Tuesday 8 October, strong to gale-force winds are expected from the southern quadrants, over Emilia-Romagna, especially the Apennine sectors and Liguria, extending to Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia, especially the coastal sectors.Storm surges along exposed coasts.
On the basis of the ongoing and expected phenomena, it was evaluated for tomorrow, Tuesday 8 October, red alert for hydrogeological risk in sectors of Liguria and Lombardy.Orange alert has also been assessed for the entire Lazio and sectors of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Veneto, Lombardy, Liguria, Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany. Yellow alert in thirteen regions.
