Are you wondering how to finish that knitting project you started?Find out how to do it through one of the 3 simple methods proposed. The process of securing the final stitches so that they do not unravel is called “binding” or “binding”.
-
Work your pattern up to one row before the one you want to be the last. It may be best to replace the right hand iron with another one or two sizes larger.
-
Start the last row by working only the first 2 stitches. This will leave you with 2 stitches on the right needle and the rest of the work on the left needle (it often works best to continue following the project pattern on this row, but you can also work the stitches cross, knit or purl).
-
Pull the second stitch on the right needle past the first and off the needle. This way only 1 stitch will remain on the right needle.
-
Work 1 more stitch on the last row.
-
Repeat the last two steps until you reach the end of the work, with 1 stitch on the right needle and none on the left.
-
Cut the wool or thread, leaving a tip of at least a couple of centimeters. If you need to sew this end, make sure you cut it long enough to sew.
-
Pull the wool or cut thread through the last remaining loop.
-
Remove the stitch from the needle and tighten the end of the yarn tightly to finish the closure.
-
Sew or weave the remaining end onto the work according to the instructions provided.Advertising
-
Work the stitches until you are ready to cast off, but leave an equal number of stitches on 2 double pointed needles.
-
Hold the 2 needles side by side in your left hand, aligning their stitches.
-
Work at the same time the first stitch on the needle located in front and the second on the one located behind. You will be working in 2 loops at the same time, but located on the 2 different left needles.
-
Continue as in the classic weave, but work each stitch in 2 loops, 1 per row.
-
After working the last two stitches, cut the wool (or thread) as indicated above, pulling the tip into the last ring and tightening well to finish the closure.
-
Weave the ends into the work.Advertising
-
Work the stitches to the end, including the last row. Turn the work so that the stitches are on the left needle, unless you want to purl crochet the edge.
-
Choose the type of crochet stitch you want to use for the closure. The names of the points may vary depending on the geographical origin.
-
Find a crochet hook that is the size compatible with the needles you used.
-
Use the stitches on the left needle as if they were the loops you pass the hook through, pulling the first loop for the crochet stitch.
-
Continue until the end. Make the closure as for crochet, and weave the final tip together.Advertising
Advice
- The thicker and bulkier the needles and yarn you are working with, the longer the end tip will need to be left to be woven.
- If you start the work by casting on the crochet stitches and use the basic weave to bind off, it will look the same on both ends, hiding the start and end points.
