Circular needles are just what they sound like;they give knitters the opportunity to work in a circle and are useful for knitting round objects, such as caps and mittens.Knitting with circular needles isn't quite the same as with straight ones, so it's best to read this article to learn how to use them.

Steps
-
Get some circular needles and yarn.
-
Make a slipknot and pass it on the iron.
-
Fit the points. Mount the points with any method you know.It is recommended not to use the reverse ring method, as the ring may twist and fall apart.
-
Group all the stitches on the left needle, or where you began to join the stitches. Make sure all your stitches are straight on the needle and facing the same direction.
-
Connect the dots. This means you need to join the yarn to the work so that it is a continuous circle.Hold the needle where you began stitching in your left hand, and the other in your right hand.Start working with the working yarn, make sure you are joining the yarn at the beginning and creating a circle.
-
Keep the joining points and the first following ones pulled. Otherwise you could get a stretch mark where you joined the thread and you don't want that to happen.
-
Place a marker on the right needle to mark the start of the round. If you don't have a stitch marker you can use a paper clip. This isn't entirely necessary however, since you can see where your round begins with the thread allowance, but it's useful if you're working a complicated pattern.
-
Continue working in a circle. A tubular structure to start with is best.
-
Disassemble the stitches as you normally do.

Advice
- You can also knit straight, flat pieces with circular needles.Just don't join the stitches and turn the work after each row.
- Here is the list of stitches and how to do them when working in a circle:
- Garter stitch:one straight row, one purl row.And repeat.
- Jersey stitch:straight across all needles.
- Reverse jersey stitch:purl for all rows.
- You can also work in a circle with double pointed needles.Try both methods and see which one you prefer.
- Remember, when working in a circle, never turn the work.
- If your needles are too large for the project you want to make, they will pull the thread and your finished project won't be very pretty.Check out the self-propelled stitch or magic ring method, which allow you to knit small items with long circular needles.
