Steps
-
Hold the flag with a collaborator. To fold the flag properly you need two pairs of hands.[1] Hold the flag at waist height so that the surface is parallel to the ground.
-
Fold the flag in half lengthwise. Fold the bottom of the striped portion over the star field, holding the bottom and top corners in place.
-
Fold the flag lengthwise again with the star field facing outwards. Hold the fold in place and make sure the corners are aligned with each other.
-
Make a triangular fold. Bring the striated corner of the folded portion to meet the unfolded portion of the flag.It is important to start with the folded part, to ensure that the folds line up correctly at the end.
-
Fold the outer end tip inward. Fold the triangle you just created, parallel to the open part to form a second triangle.
-
Continue folding the entire flag triangularly. The entire fold sequence should include 13 folds, representing the original 13 colonies.
-
Make sure the flag is folded correctly. When the flag is folded completely, only the starry blue field should remain visible.Tuck the ends into the fold to secure the flag in place.Advertising
