ROME – A water bomb and then a roar.A huge landslide occurred on the Gallo Pass - in the late afternoon of Friday 19 July - which connects Livigno with Switzerland.Several people, mostly tourists, were stuck in the tunnel.“The recovery operations of the people involved are underway, with the use of a dinghy that crosses Lake Livigno to reach the affected area,” the rescuers say.At the moment no deaths or injuries have been reported and checks are underway for any missing persons. The cameras at the entrance to the tunnel - as reported by Repubblica - would have recorded the passage of a motorcyclist shortly before the landslide who has not yet been identified among the people rescued.Meanwhile, the state road is blocked in both directions.
