Steps
-
Buy a pack of Snus. Snus comes in various flavors, sizes, and strength levels. It's probably best to start with a mild strain if you've never smoked. If you are a smoker addicted to nicotine, even strong nicotine is fine.
- The labels show the intensity values which are:Normal, Stark, & Extra Stark. On average, the Stark variety contains 11 mg of nicotine per gram and the Extra Stark variety up to 22 mg.
- Snus has three different sizes:Mini, Normal/Large (the most common) and Maxi.
- Camel and Marlboro both have brands of Snus with different flavors, such as mint, "robust" style, and natural flavors. They are known for their long-lasting taste, so choose one you might like.
- Many users claim that real Swedish "Snus" has much better quality and prefer the taste. If you want to buy it in Sweden, make sure you get it in small bags as sometimes the traditional one has the label that says "snus".[1]
-
Take a small bag from the box. When you buy Snus in a can, there will be lots of little bags.Get one to use.
- Unlike the classic snuff, you don't need to shake the box to create lumps of tobacco. You can sort it out of the bags with your fingers, squeezing them a little.Do this gently and be careful not to tear the bags.
-
Insert the bag between your teeth and gums. Most snus users choose to place the pouch under the upper lip, to one side.Place it where it's most convenient for you.
- Some people dry the inside of their lips before inserting it, to avoid producing too much saliva. If you wish, use a tissue to dry the top inside of your lips.
- Those with small mouths find it more convenient to fold the bag in half (long or wide) before inserting it.Try it and decide what is best for you.
-
Don't spit. It is not necessary to spit out the tobacco juice from Snus, although some people do so so as not to carry around an empty water bottle or cup.Swallow normally and keep the Snus in your mouth as long as possible and enjoy the taste and effect. You can keep it from 20 minutes up to an hour.
- Snus is a variety of “wet snuff,” meaning the substance in the pouch contains only 30 % tobacco and the remaining 70 % is water and flavorings.Since there is salt and flavorings in the mixture, you will not produce excess saliva.
- Immediately after application, you should feel the classic tobacco effect. If you are not experienced, you may experience symptoms such as agitation, nausea or even vomiting. These are reactions caused by nicotine. If you start to feel nauseous, spit out the bag.
- Always throw used bags in the trash.Don't spit them out.
-
Store Snus in a cool, dry place. Keeping cans of snus in the fridge is common as the flavor and quality stay fresh.By doing so, it will last longer. In America you will find it in tobacco store refrigerators.kept refrigerated in American tobacco stores.
Advice
- If you want, spit out the liquids produced by the tobacco. The aroma could be very strong. If you don't usually use tobacco, you may not like swallowing the liquid.
Warnings
- Snus contains nicotine, a highly addictive drug.If you are not addicted to nicotine, don't start. While it is substantially safer than cigarettes and other tobacco (in terms of lung health), it contributes to the development of oral cancer and other health problems.
