After the flood, Cogne wants to return to normality. From Saturday 27 July the regional road that connects it with the rest of the Aosta Valley will be reopened and the tourist season will be able to restart

AOSTA – After the flood on Saturday 29 June, which swept away almost a kilometer and a half of regional road 47, Cogne will have its road again from 7am on Saturday 27 July. The road was closed by the mayor of Aymavilles a few hours before a storm swept away three sections of it, in two different points, isolating the entire area upstream from the Chevril bridge.A road will be opened "with all the trappings, asphalted and bordered by new jersey" says the president of the Valle d'Aosta Region, Renzo Testolin. The announcement of the reopening date arrived this morning.Cogne now has 12 days to "work for the organization of its structures, for the relaunch from a media point of view" of the tourist season.

TEXT:“REOPENING IN 28 DAYS IS A CHALLENGE”

According to Testolin, "reopening the road in just 28 days is a feat possible only by bringing together the forces of all our structures and companies that have worked tirelessly".The reopening date "will be respected unless weather conditions arise which could compromise the works".
After the reopening "windows" of yesterday and the next few days, the road will be reopened in both directions;at kilometer 9.4, the second section of interruption where the road has been eroded by the Grand Eyvia, which runs 18 meters below, there will be a one-way system going up along the bypass track built upstream of the road cutting a row of trees;to go down, one lane of the road will be used, to allow companies to continue working on the construction site.

PRESS AND SOCIAL CAMPAIGN LAUNCHED:“THE AOSTA VALLEY IS OPEN, COME”

The Region has started a campaign on social media, which will also arrive in the main national newspapers on Wednesday, to explain that the Valley is open despite the damage on the road to Cogne, in the Valnontey of Cogne and in the center of Breuil-Cervinia.“The Aosta Valley awaits tourists. With the message of the reopening of the regional road to Cogne, we also want to give the message that nothing has stopped" says the regional councilor for Tourism, Giulio Grosjacques.
