The fury of Etna and Stromboli subsides, where the lava flow stops

PALERMO – The Sicilian volcanoes calm their "boilings".The bulletins of'National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology update on their activity, in the aftermath of a decidedly intense day.

As for the Stromboli volcano, the lava flow on the Sciara del Fuoco generated by the effusive activity has stopped.At the moment, according to what was reported by theEngv, there are no active flows.After the paroxysm, i.e. the eruptions, of yesterday, 11 July, morphological variations were recorded in the crater area "where - the INGV explains - the lack of explosive activity persists".The average amplitude of the seismic signal is at low levels with few oscillations on the average level.The analysis of the seismograms highlights alow seismic activity.

Even theStrombolian activity of theEtna “has decreased significantly” and the lava flow produced by the Voragine crater is no longer active.This was communicated by the experts of the Etna Observatory of'Engv.The term Strombolian activity means "a relatively low level volcanic eruption, during which a modest amount of energy is released", the name derives from the other Sicilian volcano.
The average amplitude of the volcanic tremor shows oscillations between the medium and high levels, "with a decreasing trend and in the last few hours - we read in an INGV note - it is confined to the medium level".
