RIMINI – The service center for cyclists and cycle tourists is nearing completion Conca market, a municipality in the province of Pesaro-Urbino, and will soon be accessible to thousands of athletes who cross its streets every year, perhaps aiming to reach the legendary "stone" of Marco Pantani, on the neighbor Mount Carpegna.In a strategic place, because it is the starting point and obligatory crossroads of numerous experiential and excursion routes Marche And Romagna, a storage area for bicycles and e-bikes has been created, equipped for parking, maintenance and charging of the vehicles.

INVESTMENT OF OVER 60 THOUSAND EUROS THANKS TO “PIL MONTEFELTRO”

The initiative was made possible by Pil- Local integrated project 'The paths of experience at the origins of Montefeltro', implemented through funds from Psr Marche, managed by Gal Montefeltro Sviluppo, aimed precisely at encouraging green and wellness tourism in small rural locations.In this way, a network of public-private interventions was created in seven nearby municipalities. Macerata Feltria, Mercatino Conca, Monte Grimano Terme, Montecopiolo, Monte Cerignone, Pietrarubbia and Sassofeltrio– who obtained a total loan of around 500,000 euros.In particular, the creation of the bike hub required an investment of 61,400 euros of which approximately 39,228 euros deriving from the Psr Marche and 22,172 thousand euros of municipal co-financing.

“The project was born from the GDP,” explains the mayor Omar Lavanna– from trying to bring together our needs, as a small territorial reality on the border, with a broader initiative that included all the participating municipalities and involved the creation of nature trails, in our specific case, routes serving the bike world ”.In this way "the municipality of Mercatino took the opportunity to modernize a space where the municipal warehouse is also located - continues the mayor - and create a small area for parking and charging bicycles, with mechanical equipment and the possibility of washing vehicles, to provide a service".
The idea does not arise by chance:for its position as the "gateway" to Montefeltro, in the center of the Valconca, Mercatino Conca "is the destination of a certain number of cyclists and nature enthusiasts who come from the sea - from Cattolica, Riccione and Rimini - towards the hinterland - clarifies Lavanna- towards Monte Carpegna, so let's give an answer for our part to what is the general objective of the GDP, that is to provide services to the territories furthest from the coast, to the community, in what is our strong point, that is nature."

THE BIKE HUB READY FOR THE NEXT SPORTING EVENTS

The intervention therefore aims to enhance the advantageous position of the Municipality, located at the intersection of important connecting roads between the Province of Rimini, that of Pesaro Urbino and the Republic of San Marino.The well-equipped and safe rest area, a stone's throw from the city center and its economic activities, can also be used on the occasion of sporting events cwhich are held in the country every year and new ones that may be organised."The project is now in its final stage - the mayor finally assures - a small service room and an outdoor space have been created, the installation of the more specific equipment and the painting of the external building are still needed, which we hope to finish in the next few weeks" .
