“200 MM OF RAIN FALLED IN A FEW HOURS”
In just a few hours, around 200 millimeters of rain fell which, even more so in consideration of the mountain territory involved, "constitute a true exceptionality - declares the Civil Protection councilor Marco Gabusi– thanks to mayors, firefighters and the civil protection system, in a few hours the people who risked being isolated were made safe and a liveable situation was restored in the territories. We are alongside the Municipalities for the reconstruction phase which will also pass from the recognition of a state of emergency on which an initial discussion was already held on Sunday evening with the always available national department head Fabrizio Curcio and with colleagues from the Valle D'Aosta Region".
The mountain councilor Marco Gallo is ready to organize a meeting with Mountain unions of the Orco and Soana Valleys, the Lanzo Valleys and the Ossola Valleys to take stock of the wounded mountain, studying possible interventions that go beyond those linked to the request for a state of emergency made by President Cirio.“Climate change is one of the most complex challenges to face, especially in a region with an orography such as that of Piedmont which often accentuates the phenomena, just as has happened in the last few hours in the Canavese and Verbano areas, making the hydrogeological stability of the area more fragile. 'the entire system - says Gallo - for this reason I believe it is important to team up to create synergies that strengthen the mountain area".
