European elections 2024:even animals vote

The Vote for animals campaign, promoted by Lav and other organisations, aims to make candidates and parties take on a greater commitment to the issue of animal rights.

THE'Eurobarometer of October 2023 highlighted how much the well being of the animals is important for citizens Europeans.In fact, 84 percent of those interviewed believe that it is necessary to better protect the species bred in their countries.And 74 percent are in favor of introducing further measures to protect pets living in our homes.

Judging by the success of initiatives such as those against the shark finning, the experimentation animal, theuse of cages on farms and the fur production, which have collected millions of signatures, the inhabitants of the EU are ready to fight for the issues that are close to their hearts.

Voters' attention to the issue of animal rights

The European elections of 8 and 9 June they will be an opportunity to choose parliamentarians who can take charge of these battles:it is no coincidence that 85 percent of Italian voters want politicians to be more involved in the defense of animal rights, and 57 percent will try to vote for candidates who have included it on their agenda.

This was revealed by a survey carried out by Youtrend and Quorum within the campaign Vote for animals 2024, coordinated, at European level, by Eurogroup for animals. It's right to be indignant about what's wrong.But if we don't also use the right to vote and don't give preference to pro-animal candidates, the indignation is an end in itself.The aim of Vote for animals is to create a majority of MEPs who have signed clear and public commitments so that the next Common Agricultural Policy no longer finances intensive farming and favors the food transition.
