TERRE ROVERESCHE (PESARO AND URBINO) – It was drained in 1985 with a reclamation operation, today it will have a role as a storage basin for water against drought and for the fire service in the Pesarese area. The Marche Region has invested 300,000 euros for the restoration of the "Bergamo" lake in Barchi, in the municipality of Terre Roveresche. This morning, the operational, technical and economic aspects of the work were illustrated by the regional councilor for the environment, Stefano Aguzzi, and the mayor of Terre Roveresche, Antonio Sebastianelli.“With the 2024 regional budget, an extraordinary contribution of 300,000 euros was assigned to the Municipality of Terre Roveresche, of which 150,000 for 2025 and the same for 2026, destined for the construction of the lake - Aguzzi recalled - The disbursement of the first installment will take place upon receipt of the documentation certifying the start of the works".
“RESERVE FOR AGRICULTURE, FOR SAFETY, FOR POSSIBLE PURIFICATION”
The objective is to ensure the territory has a strategic and necessary water reserve for "multifunctional use, both to help local agriculture, which is increasingly in a critical situation due to drought, and for fire safety purposes as well as , in case of emergency, for possible purification", added Aguzzi.Mayor Sebastianelli remarked:“Among the objectives we set ourselves with the restoration of the basin there is also that of giving new life to the green area in which it is located, restoring to the lake its recreational and sporting functions, capable of producing positive tourist benefits”.Built in the second half of the 1960s on an area of approximately 7 hectares, in 1985, due to its inadequacy with the regulations of the time, the mayor of Barchi ordered its emptying and since then the area has been unused.
WORKS BETWEEN SEPTEMBER 2025 AND SEPTEMBER 2026
Now, finally, we have laid the foundations for its reactivation - stated the mayor of Terre Roveresche -.I thank the Region, and in particular councilor Aguzzi, for believing in the quality of the project and for providing the significant contribution".The surface area on which the intervention will be carried out is 8.3 hectares, 4 of which will be occupied by the reservoir. The works will consist of restoring the riverbed by cutting the vegetation that has grown over 39 years;in the maintenance of external wooded areas;in the partial reconstruction of the embankment in correspondence with the Bergamo ditch, with the simultaneous construction of the overflow work;in the replacement of structures in correspondence with the tributaries.Work is expected to start in September 2025 and conclude in September 2026.
