BRUSSELS – Replace the black boxes of each car with green boxes to evaluate the environmental impact of Co2 consumption and overcome the definition of belonging to the Euro class. This is the objective set by think tank “The Urban Mobility Council” of the Unipol Group with the collaboration of the Milan Polytechnic.A participatory meeting was held at the European Parliament in Brussels and was the opportunity for Matteo Laterza, CEO of UnipolSai e Sergio Savaresi, director of the Electronic Information and Bioengineering Department of the Polytechnic of Milan, to present the E-Private Mobility Index, the index of convertibility to electric cars. The MEP took part in the round table Giuseppe Ferrandino (Iv), Maria Veronica Rossi (Alloy), Massimiliano Salini (Fi), Patrizia Toia (Pd) e Dario Dubolino (Directorate-General for Transport of the European Commission).
According to the authors of the research, it is not so much the Euro class to which the car belongs, but rather the use of the car and the driver's behavior that are decisive in the environmental impact. Adopting the green box solution will first of all be able to count the public resources consumed by each vehicle, and finally it will allow us to bring ecological benefits as it would allow greater equity according to the "pay-per-use" concept;greater social inclusiveness as it would allow more freedom when purchasing a car;a responsibility for the use of the car by the citizen.
