BOLOGNA – A foot race to rebuild the Vaia Dragon, the majestic wooden work ofartist Marco Martalar destroyed forever last month due to arson.There Drago Vaia Trail, which bears the name of the dragon, will be held on October 29th in Lavarone, in the province of Trento, where the sculpture that no longer exists stood.Precisely with the aim of raising more funds, the race is open to everyone and there is also a family route of just three kilometers, renamed ‘Drago Vaia Family'.It was all organized by La Sportiva 7 Comuni, the company that created and brought the Strafexpedition to great success, which proposed the idea to the Municipality of Lavarone.The initiative, as well as by the Municipality, is supported by the Tourist Office and the Pro Loco of Lavarone as well as by the APT Alpecimbra.

BIND
The running test is set up over two distances:there 20 kilometers, which includes a height difference of 572 meters, and the 10 kilometers, with a height difference of 250 metres.There is also a 3 kilometer walk open to all.The start will be given at 10 am from the Gionghi di Lavarone area, while the family walk will start at 10.15 am.At 12 off to the Pasta Party for all competitors.At the end of the race, the top 5 overall and the top 3 in the Over 50 category will be rewarded.
PRICES
The cost of registration is 22 euros for the long race and 17 for the short one, with a maximum limit of 300 competitors for each race.The deadline for registration is October 15th, after which increases may occur.The non-competitive walk for families requires a contribution of 5 euros.
THE DRAGON GOES
The Vaia Dragon was a 'land art' sculpture created by the artist Marco Martalar:it was made up of 2,000 pieces of roots of trees uprooted by storm Vaia. After months and months of work, the Dragon is was destroyed in 20 minutes on the evening of August 22nd, when an arson attack turned it into ashes.It was an important tourist destination for Alpe Cimbra, and was above all a symbol of rebirth after the disastrous Vaia storm.The artist has already said several times that he is studying a way to reconstruct it.has the support of the Municipality of Lavarone on its side, but also of many people who immediately rushed to sign the fundraiser launched a few hours after the fire by the mayor of Lavarone, Isacco Corradi.So far, almost 46,000 euros have been raised (here fundraising page).This foot race wants to give him a hand.
