The coast of Sardinia is, for the umpteenth time, under attack. The centre-right regional council led by is launching the offensive Christian Solinas, which, at the hands of the Urban Planning Councilor Aldo Salaris, delivered to the Minister for Environmental and Cultural Heritage Gennaro Sangiuliano a request for modification of the current protection rules of the Sardinian coast. The objective of Solinas is in fact to provide as soon as possible for new constructions and building redevelopments that can overcome the constraints inherent to the defense of the coasts contained in the Regional landscape plan approved in 2006, aiming, among other things, at an important expansion of tourist villages and luxury hotels. For this, however, the approval of the Minister is needed, who will not express his opinion before the end of September.
The draft sent to Sangiuliano contains a list of specific points, made known to the press:grant the possibility of demolish and rebuild buildings in protected areas, also through changes to the architecture of buildings;allow one redevelopment of existing properties;correct constraints in areas near ponds, redefining the prohibitions;redefine the boundaries around a series of protected archaeological and historical assets, making less stringent the constraints present in the coastal area and in the countryside;streamline practices and procedures related to urban planning interventions, in the city and in the hinterland municipalities.
The content of is also the target of criticism from environmentalist associations two amendments to the regional financial maneuver, approved in the Commission with the opposition voting against. The first provides that hotels located in the protected coastal strip 300 meters from the sea can obtain a 15% increase compared to current volumes;the second allows a increase in manufacturability indices by 25% in the strip beyond three hundred meters of the shoreline, not protected by the PPR.Precisely for this reason, the council anxiously awaits the government's decision on the possible modification of the Plan. The proposed amendment, we read, is intended to the "redevelopment of existing accommodation facilities which, in order to be competitive, need to offer a high and diversified standard of services, as also shown in the Strategic Tourism Plan, and in coherence with the forecasts of the Regional Landscape Plan".
If theNational Association of Home Builders applauds the initiative of the Sardinian council, criticism rains down from Order of Geologists, Wwf And Our Italy, according to which the blitz could endanger not only environmental protection, but also the safety of people. It also makes itself felt Fridays for future Sardinia:«The situation reflects a political reality in which interests of powerful groups how construction companies often drive political decisions – comment one of the members, Luca Pirisi -.The tourism and construction sectors, deeply rooted in the Sardinian economy and society, are pushing for a further one deregulation. This is the dynamic that explains the continuous attacks on the integrity of the coasts."Now the ball is in the government's court.
