BOLOGNA – A "busy week with a first strong disturbance" tomorrow, then a second Thursday "connected to the now former Atlantic hurricane Kirk“:will be involved above all North and the Tyrrhenian side “with peaks of over 100-150 millimeters and possible local critical issues”.This is 3bemeteo's forecast for the next few days, therefore still 'wet'.
TWO DISTURBANCES EXPECTED IN ONE WEEK
“Autumn 2024 continues to push on the accelerator with new phases of bad weather, even severe, in sight for Italy”, warns the meteorologist of 3bmeteo.com Edward Ferrara. The “first intense disturbance”, he explains, is imminent “with peak of bad weather during Tuesday.Involved above all Centre-north with rain and thunderstorms, including strong ones:in particular close to the pre-Alpine, Alpine and piedmont areas, but also in central-eastern Liguria, Versilia, Garfagnana and Lunigiana, local peaks of over 100-150 millimeters cannot be ruled out, with potential hydrogeological criticalities".
Peaks of 70-80 millimeters will also be possible in the rest of Tuscany, Umbria, Lazio and upper Campania.
At the edge of the cyclonic action the rest of the South even with some rain or showers still possible, in particular between Molise, upper Puglia, Basilicata, upper Calabria, Sicily, especially the Tyrrhenian one, and more widespread in Sardinia, especially the northern one.“All accompanied by strong winds between Scirocco and Libeccio, with very rough or agitated seas and possible high water in Venice“.
FROM THURSDAY THE SECOND WAVE IN THE NORTH, FROM THE TYRRHENIAN TO THE ADRIATIC
After a Wednesday "of transition between irregular clouds with some rain or scattered thunderstorms, alternating however with openings, a second disturbance will arrive on Thursday", continues Ferrara. As with the first wave of bad weather, “the areas with the heaviest rainfall will once again be those of North and the middle Tyrrhenian side, but with local encroachment also on the Adriatic side and, albeit more marginally, the South. It should be noted that the extreme South and in particular the Ionian area and Sicily will continue to experience extremely dry conditions at times, due to a disturbed Atlantic flow that is often too far to the North to produce sufficient rainfall to make up this deficit", explains 3bemeteo. From Friday and over the weekend we should experience a generally calmer phase, "although not yet completely stable with some rain still possible, especially in the North, but generally less intense".
AND THERE IS ALSO THE PLAY OF HURRICANE KIRK
Francesco Nucera, from 3bmeteo.com, highlights:“Currently theThe tropical Atlantic is home to three cyclones, an exceptional event in October when physiologically the hurricane season is drawing to a close. One of these, theHurricane Kirk, will have albeit indirect effects also on bad weather in Europe and Italy.More specifically, Kirk in an initial phase awill amplify the effects of the Atlantic disturbance arriving on Tuesday, also on Italy. In a second phase it will arrive in Europe, but as a former hurricane now completely transformed into an extra-tropical cyclone, driving the second disturbance on Thursday.Although it will no longer be a hurricane, its effects could still be significant, so much so that severe bad weather conditions with intense rain and at times stormy winds (gusts of over 100-120 kilometers per hour) are also expected between France, England and then central European states. ”.
