Mayors and citizens, committees and unions, politicians and independent acronyms.There are thousands of people who today, Wednesday 2 October, have decided to take to the streets of Cagliari to deliver the over 210,000 signatures in favor of the “Pratobello 24” law proposal against energy speculation.Citizens from all over Sardinia were present at the event, many of whom arrived in the regional capital on board organized buses.The law raised quite a bit of controversy, but in the end it succeeded bring together most of the committees and municipalities in the region."Today is a date that, in my opinion, will become historic, because we are delivering 210,000 signatures which would effectively block energy speculation in a clear and stable way," he declared to The Independent the lawyer Michele Zuddas, among the promoters of the initiative.«We will deliver the signatures to the President of the Regional Council with the hope that this Region will interpret the will of the Sardinians and therefore you really block once for all energy speculation."
Today's demonstration was launched to deliver the signatures of the popular law initiative "Pratobello 24” and was held in Cagliari in front of the regional palace.Thousands of people from all over the island participated in the event, and several committee representatives spoke.Flags of every color were waved among the crowd:present, among many, trade union acronyms such as UIL, Cobas, and Sardinian Trade Union Confederation, but also independentist acronyms, local signatures and, naturally, many Sardinian banners.Dozens of orange balloons, symbolically composed of biodegradable material and containing seeds that everyone could take home.The boxes containing the signatures were passed from hand to hand through the crowd along a cordon facing the palace.At the end of the various demonstrations, representatives were brought inside the building to deliver the signatures and present the proposal.
The press release presenting the event describes the law as an initiative "to keep Sardinia clean for a future of agroforestry and other agroecological techniques that provide us with good food, regenerating the soil and safeguarding the environment"."Us we are not against the energy transition», added Zuddas, «but we want it to be governed and managed, and that the will of the Sardinians is respected».There collection of signatures was launched last July and in just three months it has collected more than 210,000 signatures in a region that has a total of approximately 1.6 million inhabitants.Specifically, the law deals with photovoltaic and wind energy and intends to assign the exclusive power relating to the assignment of energy projects to the Sardinia Region.
