In the port of Oristano, where the permanent garrison against the transit of special vehicles transporting wind turbines was established in recent days, the first tensions with the police were recorded during the night.A group of people actually sat on the ground for prevent the transit of trucks which transport the components of the shovels to the areas of the island where they will then be installed, an initiative which led to the immediate intervention of the police, who immediately set up a cordon to protect the vehicles in riot gear.«The giant wind turbines are starting towards territories to be devastated despite the moratorium, all together we can stop them" was the appeal, in recent days, of the Group for the Protection of the Sardinian Territory (Gruttes), which started the initiative. In recent weeks, in fact, the Region had given the green light to one moratorium which blocks every new renewable energy project, wind and photovoltaic, in order to stop what has been defined as an "assault by multinationals" on Sardinian soil.Sardinian citizens have repeatedly declared that they are not against the energy transition but rather the speculation which accompanies it to the detriment of the protection of the environment and the will of the population.
«A foras sas palas de sa Sardigna»:this is the chorus that the committees repeated throughout the evening while blocking the passage of the trucks transporting the components of the wind turbines. The one in the port of Oristano is only the latest of the initiatives that the Sardinian people have undertaken to resist what the committees define as an "assault" against their territories.Last week, in the Cagliari hinterland, some citizens had given the go-ahead at the Revolt of the Olives, a spontaneous popular uprising that responds to the forced expropriations of farmers' land (where the wind farms are to be built) by planting olive trees and other plant species.Meanwhile, it's officially match there collection of signatures to stop wind and photovoltaic farm projects on the island in the absence of an adequate regional energy plan.
The Sardinian population has long denounced how speculation is hidden in the folds of the energy transition that is plundering a territory already tormented by the presence (also imposed) of military bases and shooting ranges. They have in fact been presented on the island 809 connection requests of renewable energy production plants to the national electricity grid which, if approved, would produce 57.67 Gigawatts of power. At the end of April it emerged that the largest photovoltaic panel factory in the People's Republic of China, Chint, had acquired the most important solar project ever conceived at a European level from the Spanish company Enersid, extending its tentacles to thousand hectares of land in the north of Sardinia.A few days later, the President of the Region, Alessandra Todde, approved a bill that introduces a ban, for 18 months, on building new electricity production and storage plants from renewable sources that directly cause new land occupation. However, the committees continued to fight, not considering the provision sufficient to protect the territory.
