The International Animal Protection Organization (Oipa) intervenes in the case, announcing the appeal to the TAR

ROME – The KJ1 bear will be killed. This is what the president of the Autonomous Province of Trento established, Maurizio Fugatti, who signed the abatement order. The animal, yesterday morning he attacked a French tourist in Dro, injuring his legs and arms. The 22-year-old bear is the oldest specimen in Trentino. The document states that KJ1 was "several times the protagonist of close encounters in agricultural areas bordering urbanized areas" and that the tourist was "suddenly attacked" by a bear accompanied by three cubs. For this reason, the governor instructed the Trentino Forestry Corps to "carry out intensive monitoring of the area where the attack occurred, in order to ensure maximum protection of public safety and security and to proceed with the demolition of the exemplary."

OIPA APPEALS TO THE TAR

The case also intervenedInternational Organization for Animal Protection (Oipa), who, through a note, made it known that he will appeal to the TAR against Fugatti's decision.“Here we go again, a race against time begins,” says the association.“We are once again faced with a ruthless mandate to kill a bear that is a bear.Another 'body to body' reaction:the only answer that the president of the company seems to know Autonomous Province of Trento, Maurizio Fugatti who, instead of encouraging and promoting a peaceful coexistence with plantigrades, wants to see the death of an animal that he attacked in a context that is still unclear.THE'Oipa he activated his Legal office which, in a probable appeal to the Regional Court of Administrative Justice of Trento, will highlight among other things how the provincial "bear killing" law is the subject of a Pilot procedure before the European Commission and which could be unconstitutional due to violation of article 9 of the Constitutional Charter", reads the note.
