The new one Amt's experimental trade policy provides for use free of charge on the metro and vertical systems (elevators, funiculars and rack railway) every day in all time slots, for all residents of the metropolitan city of Genoa.Furthermore, the program provides a further form of free admission dedicated to over 70s and under 14s, always residents of the metropolitan city of Genoa who can move without any cost on the entire Genoese network which includes urban bus lines, underground, funiculars, elevators, rack railway, bus lines of the Genoese provincial network, Navebus, Volabus, as well as the lines that lead to Santa Margherita Ligure and Portofino and the Genoa-Casella railway. For those over 70, free entry is to be considered starting from 9.30 am until the end of service. These are important benefits for the Genoese in a city that is not easy to navigate, characterized by many climbs and an extension that goes from the sea to the mountains.

The mayor's words
After some inconveniences, later resolved, in requesting the card for the large turnout, citizens are learning to appreciate the novelty.“It is a great operation to bring the Genoese ever closer to public transport,” he commented Marco Bucci, mayor of Genoa.“These months of testing the free metro and vertical systems have already brought important results from this point of view.In the coming years, with the extension of the metro, the service will become even more widespread and efficient for many other areas of the city".The objective declared by the administration is to reward those who decide to subscribe with special rates, a way to facilitate those who choose to move every day by public transport not only in the city area but also throughout the metropolitan area.
The Genoese municipality aims to encourage more and more people to the use of public transport and build their loyalty, thus establishing AMT as the first choice for mobility on the metropolitan network.“This is another important piece with a view to promoting, through simplification with tariffs flat, the use of local public transport is increasingly increasing", declared the Mobility Councilor of the municipality of Genoa Matteo Campora, "news that will interest Genoese users, but also in a broader way those who move within the entire metropolitan area and tourists or those who come to Genoa for work, aligning us more and more with the highest European targets".The free use of vertical systems and the metro are a historic innovation for the city and for the national panorama in general.“I am particularly satisfied with the new commercial proposal valid on the large local public transport network”, explains Claudio Garbarino, delegated councilor for Transport of the metropolitan city of Genoa, “born thanks also to the desire, reiterated several times in recent years, to offer concrete answers to all users of the city and the metropolitan area of Genoa with a citizen-friendly tariff policy.
This was possible, for the first time on the entire metropolitan network, thanks to the merger into a single company, simultaneously following the lines dictated by the European indications on the reduction of emissions reiterated in the 2030 Agenda, but above all as a function of offering a true social service for citizens".By 2026 the metro will connect a large part of the city, so the municipality of Genoa wants to be able to give a local public transport service to move around a large part of the city area and reach the city center completely free of charge with an important benefit on the quality of the air and in general on the lives of residents, trying to free many roads from private traffic.
