The ninth season of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship has ended, but the search for solutions for more sustainable mobility continues.

Energy. This is the word that best summarizes the final stage of the ninth season Of Formula E, The international championship reserved for electric single-seaters, hosted by the British capital the 29 and 30 July. The energy of the inhabitants of London, of different origins but united by the passion for a sport whose slogan is “net zero since day zero”, a zero emissions since its debut. And the energy of third generation cars (Gen3) who whizzed around the circuitExCel, characterized by a covered and an uncovered part.

The efficiency of third generation single-seaters

“The most advanced and most sustainable electric single-seaters in the world have given us great performance, with power and efficiency never seen before. And the fact that the championship was played out to the wire until the last race says a lot,” he explains James Barclay, team principal of Jaguar TCS Racing and managing director of Jaguar Land Rover Motorsport, to the LifeGate microphones.

“We learned a lot about the technology, how to optimize it, how to get the best performance from our Jaguar I-Type 6.An extremely competitive car, which gave us the greatest number of podiums and victories of our career:a great result for a completely new car."

A record-breaking season for Jaguar TCS Racing

The performance of Mitch Evans, in fact, it was extraordinary. The New Zealand driver, member of the Jaguar team paired with the Briton Sam Bird, came first in race 1, despite having started in sixth position.A race characterized by three interruptions, two of which were signaled by the red flag, and ended with second place for Jake Dennis who won the world title.

“Jaguar optioned me in 2016, on my debut in Formula E:I already had friends competing in the championship, it was great to be able to join them for the third season and start my journey,” says Mitch Evans.“It's not an easy path, but the way you approach it defines your personal growth, as well as your role in the sport.”

A revolution that starts from the slopes and reaches the streets

Why is Formula E so exciting, even more than Formula 1?Simple:It's not that exciting Despite the cars are quiet, but really Why I am.They are electric, and show us the full potential of future mobility.Indeed, of the present.“What we have learned over the last eight years, and especially with this year's car, is that increasing efficiency as much as possible brings benefits that we can certainly transfer to future series electric cars as well,” clarifies James Barclay.

“We are demonstrating that sustainability, as well as performance, can depend on innovation:at the Monaco E-Prix, thanks to the collaboration with Castrol, we have successfully tested the use of a re-refined transmission fluid,” with a view to circular economy.Jaguar will produce only electric vehicles from 2025 to then involve suppliers in the path towards climate neutrality, to be reached by 2039.A great contribution, Barclay underlines, will come from emerging pilots and, in general, by young people.

The role of the E-education 2.0 project

This is why, in London, there were also students of the Newton high school in Rome, awarded for having made one of the best short films in the field of E-education 2.0 project.

An initiative by LifeGate e Jaguar Land Rover Italy which, in the last school year, led four hundred students from five Italian cities to discover the world of sustainable mobility. They too look forward to it tenth season of the championship which, after a test phase in October, will officially begin January 2024.
