From the more classic ones such as emissions and consumption, to others that, perhaps, you had never taken into consideration. This is why choosing an electric scooter, even a rental one.

The electric scooter and moped sector, especially in cities, is a rapidly growing sector, also thanks to the undeniable advantages. What advantages? In addition to environmental ones (absence of emissions and noise), it is above all those who attract new users low maintenance costs (think that in the case of the Exe electric scooter the engine only requires checking the transmission oil level and the belt tension every 5 thousand kilometers), the exemption from ownership tax for 5 years, access toEcobonus (which lowers price lists that are normally higher than endothermic models, as happens for electric cars) and the possibility of obtaining insurance rates facilitated.

The motorized two-wheeler market in Italy is growing.Sifting through the numbers released by Ancma, the National Motorcycle Association, it turns out that Italians' interest in motorcycles, scooters and mopeds in the first half of 2023 grew by 16.8 percent on last year.It is above all the market that is driving the market scooter, which alone recorded a quarter of more volumes compared to the first half of 2022 (+24.93 percent) with 102,470 vehicles sold.It marks a setback electricity market which after months of growth slowed down in June, with a decline that weighed on the budget for the semester by more than 20 percent. We'll see what happens after the summer.

Meanwhile, the market is quickly enriched with new proposals, such as those of the Spanish one Nerva, which debuts for the first time in Italy with the Exe electric scooter, a scooter that adds a series of features to the prerogatives seen above, such as battery purchase and management formulas, which make it even more interesting. That thecircular economy in various ways it is increasingly entering mobility as well, as we have seen several times.

And several times, when talking about electric mobility the topic of battery life emerges, their end of life, or the so-called second life. Here, the Spanish company Nerva bases an important part of its strategy on this aspect, proposing as an alternative to the purchase of a scooter, a formula that provides for the battery rental for a period of 5 years at the end of which you can choose whether to replace the batteries with new ones (which in the meantime will have evolved, with greater autonomy) and continue the rental, a preferable option, or pay the remaining amount and keep the old ones batteries. But the reason for opting for the rental formula is also another:the old batteries returned, once serviced, enter a humanitarian program managed by the foundation Eki; once reconditioned, they will be used as energy storage systems in developing countriesAfrica with severe infrastructure deficiencies. There's more. Thanks to a code, customers who join the initiative will always be able to know where the discarded batteries are and how they are used.

Exe is an electric scooter designed for urban mobility

But let's get into the merits of the new Exe electric scooter.Starting from the manufacturer, the Spanish Nerva, which debuts for the first time in Italy but which has been investing in sustainable mobility for some time, also thanks to a partner like BYD, battery supplier. For now it is a single model designed especially for urban mobility although its performance (comparable to that of a 125 cc scooter.endothermic, so to speak), as we will see, they are also suitable for dealing with an extra-urban home-work situation;just be careful that the approval does not allow you to go on the ring road or motorway, while to drive it you need a B or A2 driving licence. Also comfortable for two people (convenient space under the saddle which houses 2 helmets), thanks to the arrangement of the batteries in the floor it offers a low center of gravity which makes it very stable and very easy to drive, with a high windscreen which effectively protects from the air, even when the maximum speed is reached, approximately 125 kilometers per hour.Plus there is the reverse which greatly facilitates maneuvers when stationary.

Three driving modes and up to 150 kilometers of electric range

The Exe electric scooter is equipped with a 1000cc motor 9 kW of power (equivalent to 12.2 of the "old" horsepower, positioned as on combustion scooters near the rear wheel, combined with the transmission), an ideal power for tackling any type of route, with peaks that can reach 12 kW and which give ideal starting point when more power is needed, such as when overtaking. The sensation that prevails is that of ease, certainly of driving, but also of use;a USB socket and the Bluetooth connection allows you to connect your mobile phone. As also happens on electric cars, even on this electric scooter you can choose between 3 driving modes, a mode on which autonomy also depends.

When traveling in the city, the mode Echo it automatically reduces the speed to 50 km/h, acceleration becomes more progressive and the battery range reaches its maximum, i.e. 150 kilometres. When leaving the city it is necessary to switch to the mode Normal;in this case the speed increases to 80 km/h and the range is reduced to 115 kilometres, a more than acceptable figure and higher than the average for home-work trips. For those who are in a hurry, there is the mode Sport:in this case the highest performance is obtained in terms of speed (which rises to 125 km/h), with an electric range which however drops to 75 kilometres. For the recharge from the normal domestic socket they serve approximately 4 hours, 3 to reach 80 percent autonomy;included is a charger 1.8 kW integrated complete with cable for Schuko type 2 socket.

The Nerva Exe scooter is equipped with two batteries Lfp (Lithium iron phosphate) of 2.88 kWh, for a total of 5.76 kWh;the 5-year warranty includes 6 thousand charging cycles, equivalent to an estimated mileage of around 900 thousand kilometres. And now we come to prices and purchasing formulas. The Exe electric scooter arrives on the market these days at the price of 7,940 euros. But there is certainly a more interesting way. That is, advance 5,140 euros and defer the rest of the amount renting batteries for 5 years at a cost of 53.80 euros per month.“After the 5 years have expired, you can replace the batteries with a new kit and continue with the rental, or pay a residual fee for the purchase of the batteries already installed,” underlines a note from the manufacturer.
