The last time we met, with Lynk & Co we talked about how sustainable mobility is revolutionizing the way we move.It was last October, and in the Corso Venezia Club in Milan we discussed it in a talk, together with Alain Visser, the then CEO Lynk & Co, Sergio Savaresi, professor of vehicle automation at the Polytechnic of Milan and Silvia Bollani, safety and sustainability expert at Altroconsumo. Many interesting reflections emerged, one above all the need to find solutions to reduce traffic in large urban areas, taking advantage of the advantages of shared mobility. For those who want, at the link below the ideas that emerged in ours LifeGate Talk.
Lynk & Co and expansion into Eastern Europe:European markets from 7 to 19
A year later, some things have changed since that meeting.Last December Lynk & Co announced the conclusion of the process Alain Visser, replaced starting last January by Nicolas Lopez Appelgren, former Volvo and now CEO of Lynk & Co in Europe.Founded in 2016 in Gothenburg, Sweden, Lynk & Co in the meantime is broadening its horizons and expanding to other markets (from the current 7, Sweden, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Spain, France and Italy, to the future 19 all concentrated in Eastern Europe), while maintaining its DNA:not a car company, but a mobility system supplier, through a range of car use solutions, from subscription to long-term rental and purchase.First with just one model, the plug-in hybrid SUV 01, to which today the first electric one is added Lynk & Co 02, designed for Europe, built in China and presented to the international press in Milan, during an event of which we present the salient moments.
02, designed (also) based on the wishes of the Lynk & Co community
Designed in the Lynk & Co international design studio in Gothenburg, the 02 is a 5-door electric crossover but smaller in size than the 01 (it is 4.46 meters long), with 445 kilometers of electric range declared, 200 kW (272 horsepower) powertrain and some features in common with another electric, the Volvo EX30 (Lynk & Co is part of the Geely group, the same as Volvo). While waiting to be able to give you more details, for now we have seen the 02 in the "static" version (the new Lynk & Co 02 is already available in online sales with prices starting from 35,495 euros or with rental/sharing formulas), a first curiosity emerges.
When you don't need it you can share
That is, the fact that the large community of Lynk & Co owners/users would have collaborated in the birth of the new model, who thanks to an app were able to express their wishes, effectively contributing with thousands of messages and comments to define some of the characteristics of the 'electric 02.And as was already the case with the 01, the Lynk & Co 02 also allows you to share the car with other users of the community thanks to an app, a virtuous example for reducing the number of private cars, often left parked most of the time.Added to this is attention to sustainability and production cycles, which has always been in Lynk & Co.'s DNA.
Nicolas López Appelgren:“The Elettrica 02 represents a new beginning”
Minimalist interiors, the possibility of taking selfies on board with friends thanks to a hidden camera in the internal rearview mirror, a “gentle horn” customizable that emits sounds more pleasant to pedestrians (the result of suggestions from the community), the fact that the 02 represents the beginning of a new strategic evolution of the brand in Europe for Lynk & Co can be understood from the first statements released by the CEO Nicolas López Appelgren:“The new 02 represents a new beginning for Lynk & Co, our business model is expanding, as our model portfolio grows.Strategic changes which – declared Appelgren – underline our commitment to providing greater choice, flexibility and accessibility”.
